L.A. Civil Rights Leaders Denounce Defaming of Martin Luther King Jr. in Dodge Ram Superbowl Commercial

*Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson and Project Islamic Hope President Najee Ali and SCLC-West on Monday February 5 (Motor Village Dodge, 2025 S. Figueroa, L.A. 90007 at 12 Noon), will demand Dodge Chrysler cease and desist use of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.s photo and words to sell Dodge Ram trucks.

This is a gross rip-off and distortion and profiteering off of King’s name and message. The King family has publicly denounced Dodge for the unauthorized use of King’s words and likeness in its shameless effort to profiteer and commercialize King civil rights struggles and popularity.

“At the press conference,” says Hutchinson and Ali, “We will provide copies of the letter sent to Chrysler Dodge CEO Sergio Marchionne Monday, February 5, demanding the Dodge Chrysler Corporation cease and desist the use of the King commercial and Publicly apologize for its unauthorized use to the King family.
