Big Boi Joins Trevor Jackson and Jason Mitchell in ‘Superfly’ Remake

*Sony’s “Superfly” remake has added Big Boi to the cast, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Trevor Jackson, currently starting in the Freeform comedy “Grown-ish,” will step into the title role of Youngblood Priest, while Jason Mitchell of Showtime’s “The Chi” will play his business partner, Eddie.

Sony has yet to comment on the latest casting.

Director X will helm the re-imagining of the ’70s cult classic that follows a cocaine dealer who tries to secure one more deal before getting out of the business. Alex Tse (“Watchmen”) penned the screenplay.

Rapper Future will curate “Superfly’s” soundtrack, and also produce the film alongside Joel Silver, with Steven R. Shore, Matthew Hirsch, Hal Sadoff and Aaron Ausch serving as executive producers.

“Superfly,” which is currently filming in Atlanta, is set for a June 15, 2018 release.
