*There’s fashionably late…and then there’s Mariah Carey late.
According to Page Six, the diva showed up to Clive Davis’ annual Pre-Grammy Gala as people were leaving.
The gala wrapped near midnight, with cocktail hour for the bash beginning at 7 p.m. Many of the 1800 guests arrived on time, according to the column.
Jay-Z, Beyoncé and their entourage left a bit early, as Jennifer Hudson, the evening’s closing performer, was nearly finishing her set, a tribute to Aretha Franklin.

Guests started exiting the ballroom to beat the crowds and in walked Carey with her beau Bryan Tanaka with a small entourage. The singer and her crew entered the rear entrance of the ballroom, only to be told that the party was almost over.
A show insider told us that Carey arrived in time to see the last performances – Khaled and Jennifer Hudson, but had only planned to pop in for Hudson’s tribute to Aretha Franklin.
