Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Black History Month Events…Lots of ‘Em!

*Black History Month is almost here, and instead of dwelling on the fact that our peeps get recognized only on the shortest month of the year (Yes, I just had to go there), let’s celebrate each of the days by showing up to some awesome events right here in Los Angeles. You’ll have to do a bit more research if you don’t reside in southern Cali. Sorry.

Thanks to the team at Black Cultural Events,  we have quite a few exciting happenings to share.

Let’s start with a Free Film Screening: ‘Notes from The Field’ by Anna Deavere Smith at Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

The newest showcase from writer/executive producer/performer Anna Deavere Smith (Twilight: Los Angeles), a version of her most recent stage production recorded for HBO and directed for the screen by Kristi Zea, “Notes From the Field” takes a hard and unflinching look at the gaping open wound that lies in the heart of institutional racism.  Read more at EURThisNthat here.
