KeKe Palmer Partners with Saving Our Daughters for ‘Girl Empowerment’ Luncheon in Cleveland

Keke Palmer shows new range in her latest film ‘Pimp.’

*Keke Palmer recently hosted a luncheon with the organization Saving Our Daughters that focused on literacy, building relationship skills, emotional management for young girls of color.

The singer/actress surprised girls from all over Cleveland and surrounding areas for a magical evening with her Saving Our Cinderellas Program, inspired by her own Cinderella experience on Broadway.

“Our @KekePalmer changing her girls lives in Cleveland Ohio, with her Saving Our Cinderellas Program. They will never forget their experience with her! #Bettertohaveloved  #savingourcinderellas #girlempowerment,” Saving Our Daughters wrote on Twitter.

Keke joined forces with Saving Our Daughters in 2014 after the Broadway production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, where she played the first African-American Cinderella on Broadway. From that experience, she launched the Saving Our Cinderellas program which focuses on inspiring girls of color to pursue the arts and to help stop bullying in schools, TV One reports.

Palmer also partnered with Radio One, Hot 107.9 in Atlanta last this holiday season to support “Saving Our Daughters” 13th Annual Bratz Doll Drive.

Listen to her speak about the organization when she was a guest co-host on The View earlier this year:

Per TV One:

At the luncheon, Keke discussed her new song, “Better to Have Loved,” what inspired it, and the message behind the song. In addition, she touched on how to keep positive relationships between girls and their parents. Now, that’s something that should be talked about more!

Last year, Saving Our Daughters teamed up with TV One and the cast of their original movie, “When Love Kills” to have girls from the organization attend the debut screening in Atlanta. There, they discussed how they, and other young women, can avoid making Falicia Blakely’s mistakes.

Keke can currently be seen playing a lesbian hustler in the movie “Pimp.”
