*50 Cent’s TV series “Power” may losing a huge portion of its viewership in the New York area, as cable provider Optimum has decided to sever ties with STARZ, Deadline reports.

The rapper has already taken to Instagram urging fans to call Optimum and petition to get STARZ back on-air.

“Optimum doesn’t think POWER is good enough after all the success of the show. The numbers are great , I guess it’s the wrong color faces in the picture again,” 50 wrote on Instagram suggesting that the show’s predominantly black cast members could be a reason the series is under threat.

“Power” co-stars Omari Hardwick (Ghost) and Joseph Sikora (Tommy) took to Instagram as well with Hardwick opening up about the news in a lengthy post.

“You either perform at a high level or you wallow in mediocrity. You either become one of the great teams of all times while becoming a unique player or you are never spoken about,” Hardwick wrote. “We as a team within this industry of television…have become one of the more special ones to ever suit up. & yet in still….certain folk refuse to not only give us our due, they have stupidly chosen to not even allow us to perform anymore for you the millions of beast coast fans.” Fans can head to keepstarz.com for more information.

A spokesperson for Altice, who owns Optimum, threw in a bit of shade with their response to the parting of ways to Deadline: “Given that Starz is available to all consumers directly through Starz’ own over-the-top streaming service, we don’t believe it makes sense to charge all of our customers for Starz programming, particularly when their viewership is declining and the majority of our customers don’t watch Starz.”

Fans of the STARZ network and TV series Power will still be able to access content through its streaming service and other New York cable providers.
