*This past December 5, writer, director, actor (and Oakland Native) Marcus D. Spencer a/k/a BIG SPENCE released “Straight Outta Oakland 2.” The film is a follow up to his 2016 award winning “Straight Outta Oakland.”
In “Oakland 2,” Spencer brings a whole new cast aside from actor Alphonso Thompson, who won a ‘Best Actor’ award in the first film.
“Straight Outta Oakland 2” is set in the year 2025. The film is about a young man from Oakland (Banneker), played by Marcus D. Spencer himself, who wants nothing more than to take care of his aunt, the woman who raised him (Phyllis Anderson). He’s faced with the issue of choosing right from wrong to try and still have a right outcome. His aunt has cancer but no health insurance. This film shows what one man would do when working two jobs isn’t enough, especially with the way the health insurance is in America.
“Straight Outta Oakland 2” is available at Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Barnes & Nobles and more.
