*TIME has named The Silence Breakers – the brave voices who sparked a movement in coming forward with their stories of sexual harassment – as its 2017 Person of the Year.
The magazine’s editor-in-chief Edward Felsenthal revealed the selection Wednesday on “Today” along with the cover, a composite group photo that includes actress Ashley Judd, singer Taylor Swift, former Uber engineer Susan Fowler and a woman whose face cannot be seen.
Tarana Burke, founder of the #MeToo movement, and actress Alyssa Milano joined “Today” and “Megyn Kelly Today” to comment on TIME magazine’s selection.
“It’s really sad for me just to know so many women hurt from this pain, but I’m also hopeful,” Milano tells Kelly. Burke says “this is a watershed moment indeed,” but adds, “we have a lot of work to do.”

Time wrote in its article reveal:
The women and men who have broken their silence span all races, all income classes, all occupations and virtually all corners of the globe. They might labor in California fields, or behind the front desk at New York City’s regal Plaza Hotel, or in the European Parliament. They’re part of a movement that has no formal name. But now they have a voice.
Nearly all of the people TIME interviewed about their experiences expressed a crushing fear of what would happen to them personally, to their families or to their jobs if they spoke up.
