*Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, currently without a team in the wake of his national anthem protests against racial inequality, revealed he spoke with Meek Mill, who is currently in prison on a probation violation.

In a tweet sent Monday afternoon (Nov. 20), Kaepernick said the rapper is in good spirits.

“Spoke to Meek Mill & he wanted ppl to know regardless of his unjust situation, he’s in good spirits & humbled by the support the people have shown him,” he wrote. “We’ll continue to fight against the harsh sentencing practices that have affected Meek & millions of other POC for generations.”

The former San Francisco 49ers QB is the latest celebrity to speak out against the rapper’s two to four-year sentencing. Last week, JAY-Z wrote an op-ed piece for the New York Times, saying. “What’s happening to Meek Mill is just one example of how our criminal justice system entraps and harasses hundreds of thousands of black people every day.”

Meek, meanwhile, has been moved from solitary confinement to general population, per his request. The rapper and his team are now fighting for a bail hearing, according to XXL.
