“American Assassin” is the film to see this weekend. If you want non-stop action, kick-ass heroes, chases, a unique fight where the combatants literally bounce off the walls on a boat, and a satisfying revenge story, get your ticket now.
The film, directed by Michael Cuesta, stars Dylan O’Brien as Mitch Rapp, Sanaa Lathan (Deputy C.I.A. Director Irene Kennedy), who recruits him, a shady Shiva Negar as Annika, and tough as nails Michael Keaton (Stan Hurley).
Keaton (“Batman,” “Birdman,” “Spider-Man: Homecoming”) has become the go-to-guy for hero fighter.
In “American Assassin” Keaton’s mission, along with his black-op crew, is to stop terrorist Taylor Kitsch and his Ghost crew, from setting off a nuclear bomb. At one point in the movie, Kennedy says Hurley is like a dad to her.
Interestingly, Keaton has a Black daughter (he and wife Garcelle Beauvais’s daughter is the object of Spider-Man’s affection).
