*Tiki Brand felt compelled to come out and distance itself from the use of its torches in the white supremacist rally that turned violent and deadly over the weekend in Charlottesville.

The product got an extended TV closeup on Friday when white supremacists by the hundreds carried them while marching through the University of Virginia, shouting things like “white power,” “white lives matter” and “You will not replace us.”

After footage of the tiki torch-wielding racists flooded television, the Internet and social media, the company who manufactures the torch felt compelled to respond.

“TIKI Brand is not associated in any way with the events that took place in Charlottesville and are deeply saddened and disappointed,” the company stated on Facebook Saturday. “We do not support their message or the use of our products in this way. Our products are designed to enhance backyard gatherings and to help family and friends connect with each other at home in their yard.”
