Spike Lee Going to Bat for Colin Kaepernick; Will Protest at Rally in front of NFL HQ

*Like a growing number of people, Spike Lee is not liking the idea that Colin Kaepernick is still unemployed by the NFL and he’s willing to do something about it.

The man behind movies like “Do the Right Thing,” “Jungle Fever” and “Malcolm X” is not standing on the sidelines anymore. He’s taking part in an event called, “United We Stand. Rally for Colin Kaepernick.”

It’s scheduled to happen on Wednesday, August 23 in front of NFL Headquarters in NY. TMZ reports that multiple organizations are on board — including the Justice League NYC and the Empowerment Movement.

And yes, in case you’re wondering, the Justice League is the same organization that made the “I Can’t Breathe” shirts that several athletes wore after the Eric Garner killing.

In related news, rapper J. Cole met with Kaepernick and declared his support to helping the embattled QB get a position with the Baltimore Ravens.

Fact is the Ravens are in desperate need of a quality quarterback because their starter, Joe Flacco, is down with a back injury and there’s no timetable on his return, reports NFL.com.

During J Cole’s 4 Your Eyez Only world tour stop in Baltimore on Sunday night, he shouted out Kaepernick from the stage.

“Baltimore, the type of sh*t that’s happening here, don’t you think somebody should risk they’re whole livelihood and their whole life to talk about this sh*t? Even if it cost them they money, they job, they life? Don’t that sound like Colin Kaepernick? Don’t that sound like what he doing? And he trying to come to Baltimore, the city that seems to need that shit for real,” Cole told the crowd.

The back story is that the Baltimore Ravens recently expressed interest in Kaepernick but have not signed the quarterback yet.  We have no idea why. It’s all because of the controversy surrounding his decision to kneel during the national anthem last year in protest as the reason.

On Monday, Kaepernick posted photos with Cole to his Twitter account in which Cole is wearing the athlete’s Know Your Rights Camp T-shirt.

“I appreciate you not just talking about helping the people, but actually going out and doing the work,” Kap wrote to Cole.
