*”Everything, Everything” is the teenage love story of the summer. The film, which had a special screening at the Creative Artist Agency on Friday, May 12th included appearances by David Oyelowo and Trevor Jackson. The screening started with a pre-mixer that included complimentary wine and food.
“Because of Them, We Can,” Founder, Eunique Jones Gibson hosted the event. She explained that a big part of excitement that came with her involvement of the event was the fact that it was directed by a black female, Stella Meghie. Though the room was filled mostly with black magic and black women support, it didn’t overshadow the fact that the movie in which was being supported was beautifully crafted.
“We’re not just supporting the film or Stella because she’s black,” said Gibson. “That’s just a bonus. It’s a dope project that deserves the support.”

The screening was immediately followed by a Q&A conversation between Gibson and Meghie. If there was one thing that got the crowd hype is was that the director made it clear she did everything in her power to make Amandla Stenbern’s character Maddy come off as unapologetically black.
“In post production if they tried to lighten the scene with her bare back I was like no, turn the saturation up,” Meghie laughed.
The film does included an unexpected twist that us EURwebers will keep to ourselves for now but it highly encouraged that you go out and see the film. It connects with black women, interracial couples, black mother, daughter relationships and anyone that has ever lost a parent or sibling. It can relate to all audiences but if you are older we suggest you tap into your inner teen.
“Everything, Everything,” is in theaters everywhere Friday, May 19th. For more information on the movie, watch the official trailer here.
