*BET knows it’s on to something with its original productions. It all started with the phenomenal showing of its record-smashing New Edition miniseries last year.

Earlier BET announced another series based the life of New York rapper Nas. Now we’re hearing the network will also produce a miniseries chronicling the rise and fall of Death Row Records.

Billboard reports the limited series, titled “Death Row Chronicles,” will be six hour-long episodes and is set to begin production this spring for a 2018 premiere.

John Witherspoon Reveals Ice Cube IS Making Another ‘Friday’ Movie

Well, there’s good news on the “Friday” front. From somebody who should know what they are talking about. According to John Witherspoon, a new “Friday” movie is set to roll.

Witherspoon dropped the bomb while he on the radio at Power 95.3 with the Get Up crew in Orlando. He says he’d just spoken to Cube, who told him the project got the greenlight from studio honchos.

It’s been 15 years since “Friday After Next” … and a lot’s changed since then. Cube’s a bonafide power player in Hollywood now — with the success of “Straight Outta Compton” — which could mean bigger budget for the ‘Friday’ sequel.

We’re excited about a “Friday” sequel, but we all know Chris Tucker has been resisting coming aback and reprising his “Smokey” role, so what would a “Friday” film look like without him?
