*Republican congressman Joe Wilson had his own words thrown back in his face during a town hall in his South Carolina district when his constituents started screaming ‘You Lie!’ in response to his remarks about healthcare reform.
It was Wilson who made national headlines in 2009 when he yelled, “You lie!” to then-President Barack Obama during an address to a joint session of Congress.
According to WRDW-TV, Wilson had planned to vote in favor of the American Health Care Act — the GOP plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare — last month, before Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) pulled the measure amid dwindling support from Republicans.
Republican lawmakers are currently back at work on a plan to destroy and replace Obama’s signature healthcare law.
Wilson reportedly told the crowd on Monday he is working with Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price on a new proposal.
“By having the ability of buying insurance across state lines, association health plans and by increasing the ability of health savings accounts, we would provide choice that ObamaCare simply has not presented,” he said. “And it wouldn’t impact employment, it would give them more choice as well.”
It fell on deaf ears.
