*In a new interview with TVNewser, veteran “60 Minutes” correspondent Leslie Stahl was asked about the addition of Oprah Winfrey to the family.

As previously reported, the TV mogul was hired this fall as a “special contributor.”

Stahl was asked how the staff reacted to Winfrey’s addition, considering the length of time it’s been since she’s worked as a hard news journalist.

“Well, first, my personal reaction is completely, totally positive! Because she’s a serious person, she’s not – in any way, shape, or form – frivolous,” said Stahl. “If you’ve ever watched her, she was always going one step deeper. And I know her personal interests, and I know that she will make us proud. And I admire her. I am thrilled, and I get a girlfriend to talk to – it’s all great for me.”

But not everyone on staff was as glowing over the new hire.

“There was some grumbling, a little, tiny bit, that she wasn’t a heavy-hitting journalist, but I disagree with that and have said so, and made my position clear in the office,” said Stahl. “I think it’s wonderful.”
