*Uh oh, it’s going down. Senate Democrats have had enough of eating the Republican’s sh*t sandwiches, so to speak and are now ready to return the favor.
Democratic leadership in the Senate now have enough votes to mount a filibuster that would block consideration of Judge Neil Gorsuch, President Donald Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court, setting up a fight over the chamber’s rules that could reshape the way the institution considers future nominees to the court.
Forty-one Senate Democrats said they would vote “no” on a procedural motion later this week that is needed to end debate and bring Judge Neil Gorsuch’s nomination to a final vote. That is enough to halt the nomination from advancing and sets up a major fight in a body where Republicans control 52 seats but need 60 to end debate on the nomination.
