*What’s the value of parenting? As a child, having both parents is deemed the ideal for upbringing. Whether its mother or father, grandmother, grandfather aunt/uncle, your cousin, that collective molded your childhood and livelihood. Is it possible to be just as successful or fulfilled only having one parent?
The man or more dominate one in the household is often revered and all too many times mothers, namely single mothers have had to fill the shoes left by countless men who are not present in their child’s life. Those men are often referred to as deadbeat. If you are, or know someone without a father, or one that was not active in their childhood years, then you might’ve used the word fatherless at some time or another.
Comedian/actor Baron Vaughn celebrated the premiere of his new, one-hour documentary “Fatherless” at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel with close family and friends including Orlando Jones, Alfre Woodard, “Grace and Frankie” co-star Ethan Embry (who also appears in the doc), as well as Executive Producer Bryan Carmel and Anne Loder, Fusion TV’s Development Director.
During the post-screening panel discussion, moderated by filmmaker Xavier Burgin, Baron and fellow comedians Lil Rey Howery and Leonard Robinson discussed fatherhood and the importance of having positive male role models.
In “Fatherless,” Baron Vaughn somehow sheds a light and offers a positive spin on being raised by his single mom, while growing up with “TV images of his ideal father in his head because he never knew his own.”
Now after having a steady career in his professional life, he’s chosen to take viewers on his real journey to find his biological father. He’s ready to meet – for the first time in his thirty five years of life – the man who is his father. This film highlights understanding and acceptance. It welcomes the need for change to become a more whole person if you are broken in that area of your childhood.
“Fatherless” airs Sunday, April 2 at 9pm on FUSION TV.
