‘American Horror Story: Roanoke’ Cast Talks Working with Angela Basset as a Director (WATCH)

*As the recent PaleyFest came to a close, the cast of the FX hit show “American Horror Story: Roanoke” opened up about having Angela Basset as a director and shared hilarious behind the scenes stories.

The screening and panel which were held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood included appearances by Kathy Bates, Cuba Gooding Jr., Cheyenne Jackson, Dennis O’Hare, Sarah Paulson and Adina Porter.

Moderator Tim Stack, who is the Senior Writer for Entertainment Weekly, asked the cast how it was having Bassett as a Director for episode 6. Though she was not in attendance for the panel, her impersonations by Jackson and Paulson made her feel present.

“Can I just say, she played my sister on this show, she played my mom in Boyz N The Hood,” said Gooding Jr. “I mean black don’t crack but she might be immortal. She don’t age. B*tch don’t age.”

“She’d make you believe anything,” added Paulson.

Although, this episode was pivotal in the plot and shows direction the cast explained that Bassett wasn’t nervous at all when it came to executing and it was clear that she wanted to be there for all of them. Bates said it was so great to have her energy.

Porter, who executes the role of Adina Porter on the show also had a few scenes with Bassett. The moderator asked if they wanted to keep her and Bassett separate during the filming.

“I don’t know if they wanted to keep us separate but I’m not going to tell Angela Bassett how to act,” she said.

During the discussion Paulson also revealed that she would love for Coven’s Cordelia character to come back to the series. She explained that we’ve only got to see her getting her powers but she would like to know if the powers might have been something that changed her.

“Maybe we’ll get to see that,” she teased.

Season seven of “American Horror Story: Roanoke,” which will be based off of the 2016 Presidential Election, is expected to return soon to Fox.
