*Tyler Perry’s father, Emmitt Perry, has survived a fire that destroyed his Louisiana home.

According to local news reports, Perry was home around 8 p.m. Monday when he heard noise coming from the attic. Authorities suspect electrical issues may be to blame.

“I couldn’t smell any smoke,” Perry told WBRZ. “I didn’t see anything burning.”

Once Perry made it outside, he could see smoke billowing near the chimney of his home — which was purchased for him by his famous son.

“I then went to call the fire department,” he added. “And my daughter was coming to the gate. And she said, ‘I already called them.’”

Multiple fire departments, which included more than 50 firefighters, responded to the blaze.

Since the closest fire hydrant was five miles away, they decided to let the fire burn itself out. The home is considered a total loss.

“I made it out alive,” Perry explained. “If it wouldn’t have happened then, me and my daughter would’ve probably been in there, and we would have burned up.”
