Jordan Peele: ‘Get Out’ Director to Make Horror Films About ‘Social Demons’

GET OUT ON THE SET

*”Get Out” director Jordan Peele told The Verge that he hopes to release four other horror thrillers that explore social themes.

“I love these new social thrillers,” he said in the interview published Thursday. Jordan is best known for starring in the Comedy Central sketch series Key & Peele and for his five seasons as a cast member on MADtv.

“There’s several other ideas that have been germinating for the past eight years, and I’d like to do all of them. As far as I’m concerned, my next decade or so — along with helping other untapped artists, or untapped identities, find their own platforms as a producer — I want to write and direct these four other social thrillers.”

Back in February Peele told Business Insider that with each film he plans to explore various “social demons.”

“I have four other social thrillers that I want to unveil in the next decade,” Peele said. “The best and scariest monsters in the world are human beings and what we are capable of especially when we get together. I’ve been working on these premises about these different social demons, these innately human monsters that are woven into the fabric of how we think and how we interact, and each one of my movies is going to be about a different one of these social demons.”

Peele’s directorial debut examines attitudes about race by following a young black male (Daniel Kaluuya) who visits the mysterious estate of his white girlfriend’s parents only to realize that her family isn’t as welcoming as he had hoped.

“Get Out” has grossed over $76 million worldwide against its $4.5 million budget, and debuted with an impressive 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
