“Insecure” creator and star Issa Rae was honored at the fourth installment of The Hollywood Confidential on February 28. Brand Maverick Entertainment (BME) president and event creator, Steve Jones, moderated a conversation with Golden Globe nominee as celebration in recognizing the closing of Black History Month.
The panel focused on elements of acting, beauty, health, fitness and the breakthroughs taking place around diversity and inclusion.
Special highlights of the evening included opening remarks from SAG-AFTRA President, Gabrielle Carteris; a pre-conversation panel moderated by host Stacy Ike and featuring actors Dawn-Lyen Gardner (OWN’s “Queen Sugar”) and Logan Browning (Netflix’s “Dear White People”); and Rona Forte (Walgreens Diversity Specialist) presented Issa Rae with the Trailblazer Award for her breakthrough in the entertainment industry positively impacting diversity and inclusion.
