*There’s probably a few of you out there who don’t follow boxing that may not of heard of Daniel Jacobs, and for some of you who have you may not know enough about him, let me begin this by saying that they don’t call him the “miracle man” for nothing.

In 2010 he was diagnosed with cancer and had to stay out of the ring for nearly two years. He certainly was blessed to miraculously have a full and complete recovery from that ordeal, and that’s why they call him the ” miracle man.”

He was born and raised in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, New York and began boxing as teenager in the amateurs where he fought in 144 fights and only lost 7. He fought his first pro fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on December 8 2007 and stopped a guy named Jose Jesus Hurtado in the fifth round.

His first and only loss was back in 2010 when he went against a tough and rugged Dmitry Pirog for the vacant WBO title. After that he was in real fight for his life against cancer that he defeated and he ultimately returned to the ring in 2012.

He won the WBA middleweight title on August 2014 against a game Jarrod Fletcher and hasn’t lost since. His professional ring record is now 32-1 with 29 coming by way of knockout.

One of his greatest wins came when he stopped Peter ” Kid Chocolate” Quillan in the first round at the Barclay”s Arena in Brooklyn back in December 2015. This was a fight that some people thought may have been stopped too quick, while others felt like it should’ve been stopped. At any rate in just a couple of weeks on March 18 he’s going against Gennady “GGG” Golovkin to face his biggest challenge in the ring. A fight that’s not lost on anybody’s mind, for this one is for the unified middleweight championship and all eyes will be focused on what happens in the ring at Madison Square Garden in New York. If he comes away from this one with a win, the boxing world will be turned upside down and no matter what happens in the ring, he’ll still be a “peoples champion” for he feat outside the ring. As I always say, we’ll see what happens.
