*There are a couple of interesting developments regarding President Obama and Obamacare that we’re sure will be of interest to you.

First, in Illinois, the Chicago Sun Times is reporting that the state legislature is all in as far as naming an expressway for the 44th president.

It reads a tad convoluted, but state Rep. Robert Martwick (D-Chicago), submitted House Joint Resolution 0017. The measure would designate “the entirety of Interstate 294 of the Dwight D. Eisenhower System of Interstate and Defense Highways as the ‘President Barack Obama Tollway,’” state legislative records show.

The move is in “recognition of President Barack Obama’s dedication to public service as an Illinois State Senator, U.S. Senator from Illinois, and President of the United States of America,” the resolution read.

On Wednesday, that resolution was assigned to the House’s Tollway Oversight Committee—the same day state Rep. La Shawn Ford (D-Chicago), announced he is drafting legislation that would rename the majority of Interstate 55 in the state as the “Barack Obama Expressway.”

Ford will propose renaming the stretch from the Tri-State Tollway to East St. Louis. In a statement from his office Ford said the decision to rename the expressway was born from Obama’s frequent trips between Springfield and Chicago when he was an Illinois State senator.

“We can imagine that then state Senator Obama made many trips between Springfield and Chicago on Interstate 55, so it is very fitting that we rename Interstate 55 as the Barack Obama Expressway,” Ford said.

Between the Tri-State and Lake Shore Drive, the expressway currently bears the name of former Illinois governor and presidential candidate Adlai Stevenson.

You might also be interested to know that there are also efforts going on to rename parts of other highways after Obama. Also, three bills were submitted to designate Obama’s birthday (Aug. 4) as an official state holiday. Another House resolution seeks to declare Aug. 4, 2017 and Aug. 4, 2018 as “Barack Obama Day” in the state of Illinois.

As far as Obamacare is concerned, one former Republican, who just happened to be the Speaker of the House, John Boehner, is telling his former colleagues what they don’t want to hear: most of President Obama’s health care law “is going to stay” and that previous talk of repealing and replacing the law amounted to “happy talk.”

Most of the Affordable Care Act, in the framework, is going to stay there: coverage for kids up to age 26, covering those with preexisting conditions,” Boehner told an audience a health care conference in Orlando on Thursday. “All of that’s going to be there. Subsidies for those who can’t afford it, who aren’t on Medicaid, who I call the working poor, subsidies for them will be there,” Boehner added. “What will be different is that [the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services] will not dictate to every single state how the plan’s going to run. And if the state wants to run an exchange, the state can run an exchange. The states will control the policies that are offered like they control every other insurance product offered in their states.”
