Milo Yiannopoulos Out of Breitbart Over Pedophilia Comments, Loses Book Deal

*There are two unforgivable crimes that most inmates consider punishable by death (or at the very least, a thorough butt-whooping in prison).

Raping a woman is one of them. The second and most offensive infraction is molesting a child or teenager.

Apparently, Milo Yiannopoulos isn’t clear in regard to the boundaries that separate these actions from normal, acceptable behavior.

Yiannopoulos — controversial Senior Editor at Breitbart News — is leaving the company over recently unearthed comments he made about pedophilia.

The outspoken Far Right commentator announced his resignation Tuesday, saying …

“I would be wrong to allow my poor choice of words to detract from my colleagues’ important reporting, so today I am resigning from Breitbart … This decision is mine alone.”

He also thanked Breitbart for standing by him, and contributing to his success.

His resignation comes in the wake of Larry Wilmore scolding him on Bill Maher‘s show last week — you’ll recall the “Go f*** yourself” line. Right after that … the interviews surfaced where he made remarks many interpreted as defending pedophilia.

In one conversation with Joe Rogan, Milo seemed to condone adults having sex with teenagers. He’s since apologized and denied condoning child abuse in any way.

Yiannopoulos’ comments have also resulted in the swift termination of a lucrative deal that he reached with publishing giant Simon & Schuster. His new and presumably controversial book, “Dangerous,” was supposed to be released in June, but it appears that he will have to explore additional options (if any still exist).

Yiannopoulos has built a reputation of being a divisive figure whose appearances on college campuses have sparked outrage and massive protests. Most recently, the writer’s scheduled event at UC Berkley was canceled amid demonstrations and unrest.

A hero to some on the Right who claim to champion anti-political correctness and free speech, Yiannopoulos was slated appear at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) later this year, but his invite was rescinded when a video surfaced of the British writer defending the sexual abuse of children.

In the video, which was recorded years ago but just surfaced on Twitter, Yiannopoulos downplays the horrific nature of pedophilia.

“You’re misunderstanding what pedophilia means. Pedophilia is not a sexual attraction to somebody 13 years old who is sexually mature,” he said. “Pedophilia is attraction to children who have not reached puberty. Pedophilia is attraction to people who don’t have functioning sex organs yet who have not gone through puberty.”

After the video was released, American Conservative Union Chair Matt Schlapp issued a statement canceling Yiannopoulos’ speaking engagement.

“Due to the revelation of an offensive video in the past 24 hours condoning pedophilia, the American Conservative Union has decided to rescind the invitation of Milo Yiannopoulos to speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference,” he said.

Shortly after CPAC’s announcement, Simon & Schuster followed suit, releasing a brief statement of their own.

“After careful consideration, Simon & Schuster and its Threshold Editions imprint have cancelled publication of Dangerous by Milo Yiannopoulos.”
