*The Inglewood Alumnae Chapter (IAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is excited to host Delta Authors on Tour in the Farwest Region on Saturday, February 4th, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at The Museum of African American Art at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza.

The Museum is located at 4005 Crenshaw Blvd. in Los Angeles on Macy’s 3rd Floor.  This event is free and open to the public.

The event will feature national, regional and local authors, including Dr. Carliss R. McGhee, author of “I Am My Brother’s Keeper, Are You?,” Victoria C. Murray, author of “Lust: A Seven Deadly Sins Novel,” Dr. Victoria M. Ruffin, author of “Caught During the Fall,” Patricia J. Thurmond, author of “Let Me Tell You A Story…A Memoir,” and L.D. Wells and Dr. Francene Breakfield, authors of “An Anthology of Sisterhood.”

Attendees are invited to meet and greet the authors and enjoy an afternoon of literary discussions on books written by Delta authors. Literature from the featured authors will be available for purchase and book signing during the event.

Started in 2010, Delta Authors on Tour is a key program under Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s National Commission on Arts and Letters.

The Mission of the Arts and Letters Committee is to promote a positive image of African Americans and other minorities through the mediums of music, dance, drama, and poetry. It is a platform for members of the sorority who are authors, to promote literacy, provide information about writing and publishing, and share their own literary works and journey.

About Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Inglewood Alumnae Chapter

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was established in 1913 and is an organization of college educated women committed to constructive development of its members and to community service with a primary focus on the Black community.  The Inglewood Alumnae Chapter provides programs based on the national organization’s initiatives. The youth programs have resulted in the participants achieving higher academic performance and preparing for STEM careers. High school students are provided workshops, activities and experiences to help them become more well-rounded individuals, develop leadership skills and get accepted into four year colleges and universities. IAC has provided over $100,000 in scholarships to high school graduates since its inception.

About The Authors

Dr. Carliss R. McGhee is a trained children’s behaviorist, a published children’s author, renowned storyteller, educator, and co-founder of Khocolate Keepsakes Children Literacy Museum.

Victoria Murray is an Essence bestselling author of more than twenty novels and is also a two-time NAACP Image Award Nominee for Outstanding Fiction.

Dr. Victoria M. Ruffin is a mother, school psychologist, aspiring entrepreneur, public speaker, community activist, and educational leader who has deep passions for service.

Patricia J. Thurmond is a retired educator, author, skilled spoken-word artist, and storyteller.  She loves to travel and considers her two daughters to be her best creative works.

L.D. Wells has been writing poems, journaling and crafting stories since her early years.  When she is not writing or reading, she works for the State of Georgia teaching online courses for new and veteran employees in curriculum development.

Dr. Francene Breakfield is a high school guidance counselor by trade, however, her passion is creativity.  She loves to write, paint, teach art, and plan creative events that showcase others’ talent so it makes perfect sense that she owns an art instructional business.
