*The Red Bull Music Academy shared an interview with producer Mike WiLL Made It, and he reveals secrets behind him and Rae Sremmurd’s role in Beyonce’s visual album “Lemonade.”

Mike WiLL said that Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee penned the vital line in the track, “Ok ladies, now let’s get in formation” during a freestyle songwriting session at Coachella. Producer Slim Jxmmi — brother to Swae Lee —  also helped write the infamous “Red Lobster” line in “Formation.”

According to reports, during the Coachella meeting, Slim Jxmmi came up with the line “If you f*ck me good, I’ll take your ass to Margiela.”

Mike WiLL handed the recording to Beyonce, who then turned it into her infamous lyric “If you f*ck me good, I’ll take your ass to Red Lobster.”

“Beyonce had already reached out to me to send some music and then I had sent a couple of ideas,” Mike WiLL said during the Red Bull interview. She changed Margiela to Red Lobster, while writing other verses for the track.

Mile WiLL also explained how the concept of the song came about. “So we’re in the middle of the desert,” he explained. “And we’re just coming up—we just freestyle, you know?—and Swae Lee said, ‘O.K., ladies, now let’s get information.’ And we put it on the VoiceNote.”

Beyonce dropped “Formation” on Feb 6, when it debuted for free on Tidal, together with the official music video on YouTube. She performed the track during the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, which garnered praise and criticism. This resulted in hashtags trending on social media: “#BoycottBeyonce” and “#IStandWithBeyonce”.

Right after the Super Bowl performance, the Formation world tour was announced. It kicked off in Miami, Florida on April 27….and earned Queen Bey MILLIONS from ticket sales and merchandising.
