*Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee Lee Daniels – creator and executive producer of broadcast’s No. 1 series, “Empire,” is at it again.
Daniels new TV show “Star” is taking their “Star Glam Tour” across the United States this month in hopes to encourage viewership of its debut on FOX, Wednesday, December 14 @ 9/8c, following the Fall finale of Empire.
EURweb caught up with the Star Glam Tour in Atlanta, where hundreds of fans showed up throughout the day in the 35 degree weather and received the STAR treatment from a team of nail and hair professionals, while listening to exclusive songs from the new series, on Miss Carlotta’s Mobile Salon, a reference to Queen Latifah’s role in the series.
“We had a great time. It was good. We were pretty busy and had a crowd all day long,” says hair stylist, Lucky Marquez of the Dry Bar, an Atlanta salon (in photo at very top of page), located in Buckhead.
Dry Bar’s staff provided services on Carlotta’s Mobile Salon in Atlanta. Denise Matthews, a state worker, said she was happy that the Star Glam Tour came to Atlanta. She was on her way home after work, spotted the mobile salon, stopped in, and got a manicure. Needless to say, she was impressed and left happy.
The Star Glam Tour offers free manicures, blowouts, and braids, and gives fans a chance to win some free STAR swag when they share their experience on social media with hashtag #STARGlamTour.
STAR chronicles the lives of three talented singers, looking for a new start and searching for stardom, as they navigate the often-ruthless music business on their road to success. Newcomer Jude Demorest plays the title role, Star. Acclaimed actors include Emmy Award, Grammy Award and Golden Globe Award winner Queen Latifah as Carlotta, Emmy Award nominee Benjamin Bratt (“24: Live Another Day,” “Law & Order”) as Jahil , and newcomers Ryan Destiny as Alexandra, Brittany O’Grady as Simone and Amiyah Scott as Cotton. The series also will feature guest stars Grammy Award winner Lenny Kravitz (“Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” “The Hunger Games”), supermodel/actress Naomi Campbell (EMPIRE) and Grammy Award-nominated musician and actor Tyrese Gibson (“2 Fast 2 Furious”).
The tour kicked off on December 5 in Nashville.
