NBA All-Star Baron Davis is Bringing Christmas to Compton

*COMPTON – Following the success of last year’s Compton Christmas Parade, the City of Compton is excited to announce that two-time NBA All-Star and entrepreneur Baron Davis and his Black Santa Company have partnered with Mayor Aja Brown and the City Council to host this year’s Compton Christmas Winter Wonderland.

Wilson Park will be transformed into a winter wonderland—complete with snow—from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sat. Dec. 17.

The free family-friendly holiday event will include a toy giveaway, battle of the bands and drill team competition featuring Compton students, local school choirs singing holiday carols, a car show, special performances and celebrity guests. Anyone interested in donating a toy to a Compton child in need can drop-off an unwrapped gift between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. on the day of the event at Wilson Park or anytime this week between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Dollarhide Community Center located at 301 N. Tamarind Ave.

“Christmas is a special time of year and that holds true for the families of Compton,” said Mayor Aja Brown. “I’m thankful for this generous community partnership and even more thrilled to be partnering with Baron Davis and the Black Santa Company on spreading holiday cheer to our residents. The holiday season is an important time for our community to come together.”

Launched by Baron Davis, two-time NBA All-Star and entrepreneur, the Black Santa Company is a new media company that creates new characters, contemporary and engaging content, and high quality products celebrating diversity, fun, and positivity. The company’s mission is to inspire the world by building diverse characters and telling contemporary stories that reflect the change in culture.

“With all that’s going on in this country, and particularly in the African-American community, I want to offer heroes and role models through storytelling,” said Baron Davis. “Black Santa is the first character. His mission is to celebrate diversity, the joy of giving and the magic of good. He’s here to bring people together and have fun.”

The community can enjoy the festive activities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sat. Dec. 17 at Wilson Park located at 123 N. Rose St.
