*Director Allen Hughes will trace the unlikely partnership between music legends Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre in a four-part documentary for HBO titled “The Defiant Ones,” Deadline reports.
Set to debut in 2017, the film is described by HBO as “an unquestionably bold film about the unlikely but ultimately unbreakable bond of trust and friendship between two street-smart men from different worlds who have shaped many of the most exciting and extreme moments in recent pop culture.”
Hughes (“Menace II Society”) followed Iovine and Dre over a three-year period for the documentary, which includes interviews with Bono, David Geffen, Eminen, Nas, Ice Cube, Gwen Stefani, Jon Landau, Tom Petty, Trent Reznor, Snoop Dogg, Bruce Springsteen and will.i.am.
The series will features never-before-seen footage from recording and writing sessions with Eazy-E, JJ Fad, Stevie Nicks, N.W.A., Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and U2, among others.
