*In one of the better shows this season, Empire brought back Leslie Uggams (Leah), pitted two sets of brothers against each other, another son against his father, stole scenarios from All About Eve and The Godfather and Anika finally got what she wanted in bed, and the boardroom, by breaking some of Lucious’ precious collectibles.

Most importantly, however, a big Lyons’ family secret was revealed after Jamal wrote a scathing song about his father.

So, yes, it was a very good night for a show that tends to be a bit uneven. With the family drama and the return of Leah, Andre’s devious behavior and the drama between dueling divas Nessa and Tiana, Empire created a lot of anticipation for its fall finale episode next week. Her level of cray cray created one of the season’s most intriguing plot twists when she plays a role in the war between Lucious and Tariq.

Let’s start with Andre (A.K.A. Don Corleone Lyon). Dude is still having conversations with his dead wife while shacking up with Nessa, but he’s done a complete 180 when it comes to his personality. He used to be the smart, charming one, but now he’s the slick, devious brother who pulled a Godfather stunt with a top designer who had pulled out of a deal with Empire when a Tiana video slamming the brand went viral. Nessa, who “accidentally” set fire to her label rival’s haute couture gown, ignited the Tiana tirade.

Homeboy is no more good!

Jamal, still struggling with his PTSD, is approached by Angelo’s mother, Diana, to sing at the fundraiser she’s hosting for her son’s mayoral bid. To help him get past it, Jamal’s producer hooks him up with some virtual reality gear where he sees screaming fans and Freda pointing a gun at him. He’s rolling with it until Lucious enters the room. That’s when he realizes that it is his pops triggering his disorder.

Hakeem, other than stepping to his older brother after the Tiana incident, was pretty quiet last night, but look for him and his ex-boo to avenge the loss of Tiana’s lucrative opportunity with Helene.

Can’t wait to see what will happen now that the Lyon boys know what really went down between their parents back in the day. Will Angelo stay with Cookie even though his mother has been warned to run, not walk, to the nearest exit? And will Lucious win this round even though he’s now promised Anika she’ll get everything she wants—including him?
