*The Syfy channel has just given a fourth season to its Kellita Smith led zombie apocalypse drama “Z Nation,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

DJ Qualls and Keith Allan co-star in the series about the attempt to get a zombie resistant survivor of the apocalypse from New York City to California’s Centers for Disease Control research lab.

Smith, who famously played the wife on “The Bernie Mac Show,” stars as Lt. Roberta Warren an ex-National Guard member and leader of a survivor group.

Airing Fridays at 9 p.m., “Z Nation” has maintained solid ratings for Syfy, averaging 1.2 million viewers with nearly 500,000 of them in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demo, according to THR. Since its premiere, “Z Nation” regularly ranks among cable’s top 10 most-watched scripted series.

Produced by The Asylum, the series co-stars Anastasia Baranova, Russell Hodgkinson, Nat Zang and Emilio Rivera. Karl Schaefer serves as showrunner.

The “Z Nation” season-three finale is set to air Dec. 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Watch a sneak peek of the episode below:
