*After he was granted permission to leave South Africa, Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) has announced the release of a new album titled “December 99th,” a joint effort with artist Ferrari Sheppard under their hip-hop duo also named Dec 99th, reports Billboard.

The project, produced entirely by Sheppard, was recorded for the last year in South Africa and will drop Dec. 9, according to a release reported by Pitchfork.

Previously released tracks from the project include “Dec 99th – N.A.W.,” “Local Time,” “Seaside Panic Room” and “Tall Sleeves.

Bey shared the album’s artwork on Facebook.

As previously reported, Bey was arrested at Cape Town International Airport in January for violating local immigration laws and presenting a “world passport” that prohibited him from leaving. He was detained in South Africa for the majority of 2016.

Shortly after his arrest, he issued a statement via close friend and collaborator Kanye West’s website, saying he would retire and release his final album this year.

“I’m retiring from the music recording industry as it is currently assembled today, and also from Hollywood, effective immediately,” he said. “I’m releasing my final album this year. And that’s that.”
