T.I. sued*T.I. is being sued for allegedly skipping out on a high school graduation party in Florida. According to TMZ, the rapper missed a scheduled gig at the graduation bash, and now the event organizers want him to pay back the $390,000 spent on booking and marketing.

In the end, Tip never showed up, despite being paid $90,000 to perform. The company also claims that it spent $300,000 on marketing and licensing costs.

In related news, Nile Rodgers recently joked about people mispronouncing his band’s name while being honored with France’s insignia of the Order of Arts and Letters at a reception at the Payne Whitney mansion this week.

Page Six reports that Rodgers said no one pronounced the name of his famous band Chic correctly in the clubs back when they began in the 1970s.

“He said people didn’t realize it was French and constantly referred to them as ‘Chick,’” a spy said.

Chic was organized during the late 70’s by guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards. Their disco hits include: “Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)” (1977), “Everybody Dance” (1977), “Le Freak” (1978), “I Want Your Love” (1978), “Good Times” (1979), and “My Forbidden Lover” (1979). The group regarded themselves as a rock band for the disco movement “that made good on hippie peace, love and freedom”.

Music industry vet Daniel Glass was also honored at the gala, and was said to be emotional recalling his early days as a DJ at famed nightclub Regine’s.
