*Sharing the untold stories of the music industry’s most hidden treasures, TV One’s signature series “Unsung” will feature Kurupt – one of Hip Hop’s greatest lyricists ever – next Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. ET.
Opportunities with friends Tupac, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre led Kurupt to successful hits such as “It’s Over,” “Bounce Rock Skate,” and “The Next Episode” becoming staples in black culture. His personal and professional journey including label disputes, rap beefs, addictions and tumultuous relationships makes him the very definition of “unsung.”
Throughout the one-hour program, a star-studded group including Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Daz Dilinger and Lady of Rage share Kurupt’s path to becoming Hip Hop royalty.
He became a household name while recording with longtime friends Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and Nate Dogg at the height of the Death Row Records era in the 1990s. With 25 years in the game, he’s also had numerous successful hits with his partner in rhyme, Daz Dilinger, as part of the platinum duo Tha Dogg Pound. He has endured label drama, addiction, a very public split from fiancée Foxy Brown and the tragic death of his former fiancée and mother of his child, Natina Reed. Through it all, Kurupt has kept going and never stopped rapping.
Through first-hand accounts, interviews with family and friends, and archival footage, each episode of TV One’s signature series weaves a tale of the highs and lows of a life in the limelight. The poignant stories of Unsung offer insight into the trials and triumphs faced in both private and public forums. TV One’s longest running and award-winning Unsung series continues with new episodes every Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET featuring hit makers and game changers Frankie Knuckles and the Roots of House on Nov. 30and Bobby Blandon Dec. 7.
