*“Saturday Night Live” saw its best ratings of the 2016 season thanks to guest host Dave Chappelle, musical guest A Tribe Called Quest and the election of Donald Trump four days earlier.

According to TV Newser, the show averaged a 6.2 rating, 16 share in live plus same day household ratings making it the most-watched show since Nov. 7, 2015 when candidate Trump hosted, and the show and averaged a 6.6 HH rating.

The 3.9 rating in 18-49 ties the show’s best since Jan. 7, 2012, which was the night of an NFL Playoff overrun.

“SNL” opened with Kate McKinnon as her Hillary Clinton character on piano singing Leonard Cohen‘s “Hallelujah,” a tribute to the singer-songwriter who died earlier in the week.

Chappelle then took the stage for his 11-minute monologue that ended with his recollection of a recent White House event sponsored by BET: “I looked at that black room, and saw all those black faces, and I saw how happy everybody was. These people who had been historically disenfranchised. It made me feel hopeful and it made me feel proud to be an American and it made me very happy about the prospects of our country.”

Later, Chappelle was joined by surprise guest Chris Rock in a skit in which they were the lone African Americans at an election watch party, and were not as shocked by Trump state by state march toward victory as the other guests.

Chappelle’s most popular characters from his former Comedy Central series “Chappelle’s Show” also made appearances in a digital short spoofing the bloody season opener of “The Walking Dead.”

Watch both skits and Chappelle’s monologue below:

  1. How does Chappelle get away with using the ” N” word ???? Double standard or what ? SNL stunk……so one sided ! If it continues this way I won’t watch. Accept the outcome of the election and quit whinning !
