WATCH Dave Chappelle’s Powerful ‘SNL’ Monologue About Trump’s Victory

*Folks are still marveling at Dave Chappelle‘s very, very interesting and powerful monologue on his “Saturday Night Live” debut (11-12-16) which came in the wake of Donald Trump‘s surprising win over Hillary Clinton in the presidential election on Tuesday (11-08-16).

Chappelle touched on a wide range of subjects from the mass shootings that continue to rob our nation of so many innocent lives to the Black Lives Matter movement. The master comedian also wielded his trademark wit and irreverence like a sword, deftly making light of serious issues but still laying down some profound truths that we all need to hear.

“I know the whites. You guys aren’t as full of surprises as you used to be,” Chappelle quipped. The monologue, which ran for over 10 minutes, was highlighted by this incredibly perfect declaration: “We’ve actually elected an Internet troll as our president.”

His praise for President Obama was on display while at the same time he contrasted the president-elect: “Trump went to see Obama last week. Did you see Trump’s face afterwards? Trump got son’d. Trump looked shook!”

But it was his recounting of a recent party, mostly of black attendees, at the White House that really stood out.

Inhabiting the same rapport with his crowd that served as the connective tissue of Chappelle’s Show, Chappelle imitated Trump’s first meeting with Barack Obama, then ended on a hopeful note.

“I’m wishing Donald Trump luck,” he said. “And I’m gonna give him a chance, and we the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one too.”

Thank you, Dave Chappelle for saying the right thing at the right time.
