*Is the Regal Theaters chain shady? Or, maybe we should as if they are racist? Maybe. Maybe not depending on your point of view.
The question is being asked because a viral video purportedly caught one of the company’s theater lying to a customer about Nate Parker’s “The Birth of a Nation” being sold out.
It happened at the Regal Cinemas in Delaware where theater-goer Devon Walls posted a Facebook video saying that the at the theater steered him away from buying tickets for “Birth” by telling him the screening was sold-out, and instead encouraging him to see “The Accountant.”
In a video, Walls strongly suggests the move was racially motivated because he found out the “Birth of a Nation” theater was almost empty.

But it wasn’t racism, a rep for tells TMZ. They claim the theater was simply “adjusting films and auditoriums to meet consumer demand.”
Yes, we’re scratching our heads to figure out what that means, too. Nonetheless, the theater manager says Walls was informed ab out them adding another showing of “Birth” at the last minute to handle demand — and that’s the theater he saw nearly empty.
However, Walls says he was never told about that added screening.
Meanwhile, Regal execs insists the race of the filmmaker, actors and the film’s subject matter had “absolutely no bearing on the decision.”
