*Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is now regretting her criticism of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Asked by Yahoo’s Katie Couric what she thought of the player’s refusal to stand for the national anthem in protest of America’s race problem, RBG called his decision “dumb” and “disrespectful.”

In her interview with Couric, Ginsburg said of the national anthem protests sparked by Kaepernick: “I think it’s really dumb of them. …If they want to be stupid, there’s no law that should be preventive. If they want to be arrogant, there’s no law that prevents them from that.”

Ginsburg has since released a statement regretting the “dismissive and harsh” tone of her comments, saying she “barely” knew about the nature of the protest and should’ve just kept quiet.

“Some of you have inquired about a book interview in which I was asked how I felt about Colin Kaepernick and other NFL players who refused to stand for the national anthem,” Ginsburg said in a statement, according to Todd Ruger of cqnow.com. “Barely aware of the incident or its purpose, my comments were inappropriately dismissive and harsh. I should have declined to respond.”

As previously reported, Kapernick will start at quarterback for the 49ers on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.
