Trump Update: He’s Not Quitting Race – Running Mate Pence Scolds Him

*Perish the thought if it ever came into your mind that Donald Trump would quit the presidential race. He says he is not going anywhere in spite of the furor sparked by video of his lewd comments about women.

“I’d never withdraw. I’ve never withdrawn in my life,” Trump told the Washington Post Saturday morning.

In separate interview, he told the Wall Street Journal that there was “zero chance I’ll quit.”

The comments came as Trump was coming under increasing pressure to bow out of the race. Leading Republicans, including Sen. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire and Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska, made statements Saturday morning urging him to drop out, and key Republican Party leaders were reportedly meeting to discussing options in the event of a Trump withdrawal.

“They’re not going to make me quit and they can’t make me quit,” Trump reiterated to the Post when asked to comment on the Republicans calling for him to bow out.

Meanwhile, his vice presidential running mate, Indiana Governor Mike Pence is also not happy with the lewd comments made by Trump about women. In a statement that he said he was “offended” but wanted to give his embattled running mate a chance to “show what is in his heart” at the second presidential debate.

“As a husband and father, I was offended by the words and actions described by Donald Trump in the eleven-year-old video released yesterday,” Pence said in a written statement. “I do not condone his remarks and cannot defend them. I am grateful that he has expressed remorse and apologized to the American people. We pray for his family and look forward to the opportunity he has to show what is in his heart when he goes before the nation tomorrow night.”

Also on Saturday, Pence cancelled an appearance in Wisconsin later today amid the fallout from Friday’s video.
