*A funeral was held today for Justin Carr, the 26-year-old protester who was fatally shot in the head during violent protests in Charlotte last Wednesday nigh following the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott by police.

Carr attended the protest so he could tell his grandmother he’d attended a rally for justice, just as she had in the 1960s marching with the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., family members told The Charlotte Observer.

Below, footage from Carr’s funeral at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church in north Charlotte:

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says Carr was shot by another civilian, and on Friday, police arrested 21-year-old suspect, Rayquan Borum, on charges of first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, and being a fugitive from another state.

Meanwhile, protesters constructed a small memorial with candles on the approximate site near the Omni Hotel where Carr was shot.

Tuesday night, Carr’s family and friends held a candlelight memorial in Camp Green Park in west Charlotte.
