*During Monday’s presidential debate, Hillary Clinton brought up the time that former Miss Universe Alicia Machado claimed Donald Trump had called her “Miss Piggy” for gaining weight.
This morning, on “Fox & Friends,” Trump defended calling attention to her size, saying the former beauty queen was “the absolute worst.”
“She was the worst we ever had. The worst. The absolute worst,” Trump, who was an owner of the pageant, said. “She was impossible. She was a Miss Universe contestant and ultimately a winner, who they had a tremendously difficult time with as Miss Universe.”
The former Miss Venezuela, who became a U.S. citizen in May, gained a reported 42 pounds after being crowned and claimed Trump referred to her as “Miss Piggy” and “Miss Housekeeping,” the latter referencing her accent.
“Her name is Alicia Machado, not ‘Miss Housekeeping’…you can bet she’s going to vote this November,” Clinton said during the debate last night.
Machado took to Twitter after the debate to thank Clinton for coming to her defense, saying, “I’m with you.”

Machado was 19 when she was crowned Miss Universe in 1996, the year Trump took over as co-owner of the Miss Universe Organization.
On “Fox & Friends” Tuesday, Trump added, “She was the winner, and she gained a massive amount of weight, and it was a real problem. We had a real problem. Not only that, her attitude. We had a real problem with her. Hillary went back into the years, and she found this girl. This was many years ago. She found the girl and talked about her like she was Mother Teresa. It wasn’t quite that way. That’s okay. Hillary has to do what she has to do.”

Trump had previously called her an “eating machine” on the show, according to the New York Times, and once invited 100 media outlets to watch her work out in a gym. The footage can be seen in an “Inside Edition” special that Clinton shared to her followers after Monday’s debate.
In the interview, Machado said she felt bullied, “very depressed” and that the experience led to years of eating disorders and psychotherapy.
