*Former NFL defensive end Greg Hardy was arrested early Monday in Richardson, TX on a drug possession charge.

The ex Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers player was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram of cocaine) early Monday morning, Richardson City Jail Detention Supervisor Tim Weed told USA Today.

He was released from the jail around 5 p.m. CT on Monday after posting $5,000 bond.

According to the police report obtained by TMZ, Hardy was pulled over in a 2010 Dodge Challenger for failing to use a turn signal. Cops say Hardy and his passenger told them they had just eaten at Applebee’s and were headed home. Police asked them if they had anything illegal inside the vehicle. Hardy said no, but granted their request to search the car.

Police say they found a Louis Vuitton wallet on the center console that contained, “a purple plastic baggie containing a white pasty substance,” along with multiple gun range membership cards. They also found a brown weed grinder.

Cops say tests on the substance in the wallet came back as cocaine. According to the report, Hardy told cops he didn’t know what it was and said someone must’ve put it in there when he passed his wallet around at a party the night before.

Hardy was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance — less than a gram. He was taken to Richardson City Jail … where his bail was set at $5K.

On the report, Hardy is listed as “unemployed.” He missed all but one game in the 2014 season with the Carolina Panthers and served a four-game suspension last year following a 2014 domestic violence incident involving his ex-girlfriend, Nicole Holder.

The former All-Pro was initially convicted of assaulting a female and communicating threats, but charges were dropped after Holder did not appear in front of a jury at the appeal.

Hardy worked out for the Jacksonville Jaguars in July, but the team opted not to sign him.
