*Kevin Garnett, 40, may be ready to end a stellar 21-year career in the NBA that included 15 All-Star selections, an MVP award, and an NBA Championship with the Boston Celtics.

According to the Star Tribune, Garnett is expected to announce his retirement on Friday after agreeing to a contract settlement with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He had one year worth $8 million remaining on his contract with the Wolves, who drafted him straight out of high school in 1995. He was the face of the franchise for 12 seasons until his July 2007 trade to the Boston Celtics.

After winning an NBA championship in his first season with the Celtics, he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in June 2013, then returned to Minnesota in February 2015, when then-Wolves coach Flip Saunders convinced Garnett to waive his no-trade clause and come back home.
