*The Tulsa Police Department’s Twitter timeline has been ramrodded with so many negative messages following the shooting death of Terence Crutcher that it decided today to just delete the account.

According to KJRH in Tulsa, the department deactivated its Twitter account on Wednesday after it received “violent and profane” posts regarding the shooting of Crutcher, who was unarmed with his hand raised when he was fired upon.

A Twitter search for @TulsaPolice now brings up an error page.

According to KTNV.com, many of the tweets dragged Officer Betty Shelby, the cop who shot and killed Crutcher. She’s currently on paid administrative leave as an investigation into the shooting continues.

A number of other tweets referred to the Police department as racists and murders, and others directly threatened the department.

Tulsa Police say they will continue to keep the public informed on social media via Facebook.
