Emmys: Jay Z Lyric Becomes Running Theme; Beyhive Mad Over ‘Lemonade’ Shut-Out

*Jay Z and Beyonce may not have been physically present at the 68th annual Emmy Awards Sunday night, but their presence was certainly felt in the building and on social media.

It started when Sterling K. Brown, accepting his award for best supporting actor in limited series/movie for “The People vs. O.J. Simpson,” saluted his wife from the stage: “Contrary to popular belief, I got the hottest chick in the game rockin’ my chain,” he said, referencing Jay’s “Public Service Announcement” from “The Black Album.”

Courtney B. Vance kept it going while accepting the Emmy for best actor in a limited series/movie, also for “The People vs. O.J. Simpson”: “Last but not least, to the woman who rocks my chain — thank you Angela Bassett, this one’s for you girl.”

John Oliver, accepting the Emmy for best variety talk series for “Last Week With John Oliver,” decided to join in with, “I want to thank my wife — the hottest chain, or whatever.”

Then, Steven Moffat accepted his Emmy for best television movie for “Sherlock: The Abominable Bride.” He said, “I want to thank my wife. Not only does she rock… whatever that was, but she produces the show.”

Meanwhile, on the Internet, the Beyhive was sickened over Queen B losing all four of her nominations for the visual album, “Lemonade.”

The most pain seemed to come from her loss in the Outstanding Directing For a Variety Special, in which Bey and Kahlil Joseph were beaten by “Grease: Live” directors Thomas Kail and Alex Rudzinski.

Host Jimmy Kimmel cracked, “I wouldn’t want to be those guys when Kanye finds out they beat Beyoncé.”
