Not Cool! Coolio & Bodyguard Busted At LAX for Loaded (and Stolen) Firearm (VIDEOS)

*Well damn, this ain’t a good look for Coolio. Nope, it just ain’t cool. OK, now that we got that pun out of our system, read on to find out what we’re alluding to.

According to law enforcement authorities, rapper and his associates were at LAX on their way out L.A. Saturday morning when they got flagged by the TSA. It seems a book bag belonging to the group contained a loaded gun. Sources say a member of Coolio’s crew claimed the bag, but witnesses reportedly told  police it was Coolio’s.

Well, as it turns out, a quick investigation determined other items inside belonged to Coolio. Cops say the rapper had already boarded a plane and they took him off to join his guard for questioning. TMZ reports that Coolio confessed to owning the bag and it was determined the gun had been stolen. At that point, both Coolio and his bodyguard were arrested for possession of a stolen, loaded firearm.

Specifically, Coolio, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr., was listed as a Las Vegas resident and was booked for possession of a firearm by a felon, according to airport police. He was released on bail Saturday afternoon.

Coolio, 53, won a Grammy and a best rap video award at the MTV Video Music Award for his single “Gangsta’s Paradise” in 1996. In recent years he has also appeared on reality television and released his own cookbook.

Later Saturday, Coolio recorded a brief message to his fans on YouTube, referring to the incident as “a little misunderstanding at the airport today”

“For now I’m fine. I appreciate everybody’s concerns and all your posts and everything. Everybody saying positive things. For those that are not, hey much love to you, too.”

He added that he still plans to perform at his scheduled concert in Indio, California on Sunday.
