*A judge in Atlanta has ruled that Bobbi Kristina Brown’s boyfriend, Nick Gordon, is legally responsible for her 2015 death because he blew off too many court dates in the wrongful death lawsuit brought by her estate.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford signed an order Friday saying Gordon repeatedly failed to meet court deadlines throughout the case, including a civil hearing today (Fri, Sept. 16). The order says that means the conservator of her estate wins by default.

Gordon has not been criminally charged in Brown’s death, but the civil suit seeks $50 million in damages.

The judge’s order says a jury trial will be set to determine how much Gordon will be required to pay.

Brown, the daughter of singers Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, was found unresponsive in a bathtub in her suburban Atlanta townhome in January 2015. She died about six months later in hospice care.
