Ryan Michelle Bathe has booked a recurring role on the NBC dramedy “This Is Us,” one of the most buzzed-about shows of the upcoming season. The series follows the intertwining lives of several people who share the same birthday.

Bathe’s actor-husband Sterling K. Brown, fresh from his role as Christopher Darden in the FX anthology series “American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson,” stars in “This is Us” as Randall, one of the main characters with the shared birthday.

Bathe will play Yvette, strong and outspoken, an unlikely new friend to couple Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore).

Bathe’s TV resume includes “Boston Legal,” “Brothers and Sisters,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “Army Wives.” She also appeared in the Lionsgate feature “One for the Money.”

The trailer for “This Is Us” has amassed a record-breaking 95 million-plus views on Facebook and YouTube since it was posted in May. The series premieres Sept. 20 on NBC.
