Will a U. S. President Ever Apologize for Slavery?

*For Americans it’s the “S” word that won’t go away, and it has been blamed for a physical and psychological genocide of African Americans, with the lingering residue of social injustice and racial inequity that is tucked in bias that bears many forms from the board room to the court room.

The word is slavery and director Satie Gossett takes it on in a gentle yet thought provoking form in his new short film titled “Forgiveness.”  In it, the President of the United States asks the youth of the country what he could do to make it better.  One young student responds with the ultimate challenge, but how will the President respond?

“Forgiveness” originated from a simple idea. It is the story of an African American boy who explores the brutal history of America’s role in slavery. It is an allegory of innocence and redemption.”  Says Satie Gossett, Writer/Director.

Satie Gossett is a graduate of Syracuse University and is on the rise as a writer/producer and director for his company Goose Egg Entertainment.  Forgiveness stars Roland Kilumbu and JD Hinton and is Executive Produced by Sandra Evers Manly for Films With A Purpose, a new movement that encourages community leaders and educators to accept the challenge bring students and large groups to see this and other films that engage discussions and actions that educate, inspire and empower through the powerful tool that films like this create. Audiences in Los Angeles can see Forgiveness at the Landmark Theatres at 10850 West Pico Blvd (at Westwood) LA, CA 90064.  Remaining screen times are:
